Trader Joe's: Recalls 2 products in the same week. 😱

On Friday, Trader Joe’s announced a recall of its frozen Organic Acai Bowls due to potential contamination with plastic. The company posted a notice on its website advising customers to either discard the product or return it to their local store for a full refund.

In addition to the online notice, physical alerts were displayed at various Trader Joe’s locations. Although the product has been voluntarily removed from store shelves, it has not yet been reported to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), which had not included the item in its list of recent recalls as of Monday morning.

This recall follows another incident last week involving canned tuna products, which were recalled due to a risk of botulism. The FDA indicated that the recall was initiated after a supplier reported a manufacturing defect in the pull tab can lids, potentially compromising the product's seal and leading to contamination. In 2024, Trader Joe’s faced an unprecedented number of recalls, raising concerns about the safety of its private label products.

Have you purchased either of these recently?
